About Us
Soulfood Forestfarms exists to accelerate socio-environmental regeneration. We facilitate the transition of lands into biodiverse, productive and regenerative forestfarms that restore ecosystems, build regional resilience and foster the wellbeing of people, soil and all forms of life. Our work is rooted in the belief that forest ecosystems are masters of abundance and resilience – and that by adapting these natural dynamics to food and timber production, we can create thriving systems that regenerate rather than deplete.
Regeneration is not only about the ecosystems. It is also about us. It is about reconnecting with nature, rebuilding our relationship with the land and co-creating a desirable future together. We work directly with pioneer farmers, local stakeholders and communities to bring this vision to life, one forestfarm at a time, one region at a time.
Our Mission: From Extraction to Regeneration
The dominant food production systems of today extract more than they give back. They deplete soils, erode biodiversity and disconnect communities from the sources of their nourishment. We believe there is another way – a way that follows nature's principles and processes, where production becomes an act of caretaking rather than extraction.
Our mission is to facilitate the large-scale transition of lands into regenerative forestfarms using nature-mimicking agroforestry approaches. We design and implement systems that increase natural capital, restore ecosystem functions and improve conditions for all life over time. This is not merely sustainability – it is active regeneration. We do not aim to do less harm; we aim to create ever more resilient, abundant and biodiverse landscapes.
By 2030, the farmers and land stewards we work with need to have become true champions of climate change, shepherds of ecosystems and guardians of living soil. Abundant, healthy food will be a mere side-effect of their deep caretaking of Earth. Our work is to empower these regeneration heroes with the knowledge, tools, mindset and community support they need to succeed.
How We Work: Localized, Interconnected, Holistic
We believe in localism and interconnectedness. Regenerating a region has far greater impact than isolated, project-based work. This is why we integrate local communities, weave systems into the natural environment of a place and honor the culture and context of each location we work in. Every forestfarm we help create is unique – designed for its specific climate, soil, topography, market opportunities and the people who will steward it.
Our approach is collaborative and holistic. Collaboration with nature requires the acknowledgement of systems, relationships, processes and functions. We create forestfarms in time and space, following the principles of syntropy and succession, always with resilience and efficiency in mind. We work across multiple dimensions:
- Fieldwork: We work hands-on with pioneer farmers, designing and implementing forestfarms, sharing knowledge and building capacity directly on the land.
- Stakeholder engagement: We facilitate understanding and support between producers and consumers, building regional networks and local community groups that strengthen food systems.
- Corporate collaboration: We engage with companies to spark circular economy approaches and enable active participation in regenerative initiatives.
- Knowledge sharing: We cycle learnings and insights with broader audiences, creating ripple effects of transformation.
Regenerative Agroforestry can do far more than produce food or timber. Did you know that we could replace many fossil fuel-based materials and grow them in forestfarms? We design beyond food, always with the resilience of the local environment and communities in focus. Our work encompasses soil health, water cycles, biodiversity corridors, carbon sequestration, local economies and human wellbeing – all woven together into thriving, productive landscapes.
Our Philosophy: Working With Nature, Not Against It
When food production and timber production merge, a new form is created – Agroforestry. But not all agroforestry is created equal. The approach can range from being very close to conventional agriculture to being very close to nature's principles and processes. We work with the latter: a nature-mimicking, highly regenerative approach that we call Regenerative Agroforestry.
What does this mean in practice? It means observing how forest ecosystems function – how they build soil, cycle nutrients, manage water, create microclimates and support incredible biodiversity – and then adapting these dynamics to create productive landscapes. It means understanding succession, designing in layers, fostering symbiotic relationships and working with natural processes rather than against them.
A forestfarm is what is created with, for and by a farmer or community using Regenerative Agroforestry. It is a living, evolving system where trees, crops, animals and people co-exist in mutually beneficial relationships. It is a place where abundance and resilience grow together, where production and regeneration are inseparable.
Our Values: Regeneration for All
As we value all forms of life and recognize the dynamic nature of it, we strive to recreate resilience on a local level but interconnected on a bigger scale. Our work is guided by the understanding that human wellbeing and ecological wellbeing are not separate – they are one and the same.
We value collaboration over competition, co-creation over control and long-term thinking over short-term extraction. We believe in the intelligence of ecosystems, the wisdom of indigenous and traditional practices and the power of communities working together toward shared goals. We value both the practical and the profound – the soil science and the soul work, the measurable outcomes and the immeasurable transformations.
Regeneration is not just a method or a technique. It is a mindset, a philosophy, a way of being in relationship with the living world. It asks us to see ourselves not as separate from nature but as part of it – not as managers or controllers but as participants and co-creators.
Our Vision: A Regenerative Future, Together
We envision a world where productive landscapes are also thriving ecosystems. Where farmers are celebrated as ecosystem stewards and climate heroes. Where communities are nourished by food grown in ways that heal the Earth. Where regional resilience is built from the ground up – literally – through healthy soils, diverse forests and strong local networks.
This vision is bold, and the work is big. That is why we believe so deeply in co-creation. Our partners bring more tools, more skills, more ideas, more hands and most importantly more hearts to the Soulfood family. Together, we are weaving a movement of regeneration that spans farms, regions and continents.
Reconnecting with nature and rebuilding a desirable future – together we can. This is not just what we do. This is who we are.
